Memoriam

Aubrey Lee Rice, age 85, went home to be with Jesus on July 11, 2015, in Brandon, Miss. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at Magnolia Funeral Home South. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Moundville, Ala. with Magnolia Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Lillie Bell Rice; three brothers, Irvine Rice, Ottis Rice, and J.D. Rice,; and two sisters, Odell Rice Bates and Virginia Rice Grimstead
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Gray Rice; two sons, Gene Rice (Dot) of Brandon, Miss. and Tommy L. Rice (Deborah) of Raymond, Miss.; two granddaughters, five great-grandchildren; and three loving grand-dogs; three brothers, Cecil Rice, Charles Rice, Bobby Rice,; and three sisters, Willie Bell White, Ellen Kelly, and Mabel Jean Jenkins.
Mr. Rice was born on January 21, 1930 in Tuscaloosa, Ala. He was a resident of the Tuscaloosa/Moundville, Ala. area for more than 65 years. He enjoyed many years of employment with the grocery store industry and after retiring, he enjoyed working in landscaping. He and his wife enjoyed many years as members of Moundville Baptist Church where he participated in singing in the choir for special events. He was an avid sports fan of the University of Alabama's football team.
Mr. Rice, along with his wife Elizabeth, moved to Raymond, Miss. in 1995, to be closer to their sons. They joined First Baptist Church of Raymond and enjoyed several years of good worship and fellowship. Mr. Rice was an avid gardener of both vegetables and flowers. His family and friends couldn't wait for his annual robust tomatoes and he loved sharing his harvest. He also enjoyed cooking his recipe of rotisserie chicken and delivering them to his friends. Before his health declined, he enjoyed making those deliveries while riding his bicycle. He loved spending time with his son at Tommy Rice Motors and running errands for the company, Mr. Rice was most proud of his two sons and all of their achievements.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Martin, Cecil Rice, Gene Rice, Bobby Rice, Mike Rice and Josh Graham.
The family would like to thank Bro. Edward King and Brother Mark Strum for their amazing love and support. Also, a special thanks to the entire staff of Brandon Nursing Home for their loving care of Mr. Rice during his illness and for becoming part of his family
