Irene Estes Frisbee

Memoriam

Irene Estes Frisbee, 88, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2015 in a Knoxville hospital. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and her local Bridge group. She was a devoted member of Central Church of Christ for the past 65 years. She was a lifelong primary education teacher in the Cleveland City Schools. She was a charter member of Alpha Beta Kappa Honorary Teachers Sorority. She was a member of the local Retired Teachers Association and was a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University.

Mrs. Frisbee was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Dee H. Frisbee; parents, Arthur Lee Estes and Willie Beatrice Patterson Estes; two sisters, Georgia Estes and Nell Estes Owen and husband, John; one brother, Alvie Estes and wife, Annette; brother-in-law, Joe Davis.

Survivors include three children: Jill Sullivan and husband, Ted of Nashville, TN, DeeAnn Gionta and husband, Deane of Knoxville, TN, and Lisa Benedict and husband, Bob of Ringgold, GA; three grandchildren: David Gionta of Chattanooga, Meredith Gionta of Knoxville and Reagan Benedict of Ringgold, GA; two sisters: Sue SantaAna and husband, Raul of Summerville, SC and Jean Davis of Huntsville, AL; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at the Central Church of Christ with Minister Tom Harrison officiating. Interment will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2015 in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Deane Gionta, Ted Sullivan, Bob Benedict, David Gionta, and Roger Fort serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Raul SantaAna, Gene Officer, Jerry Bird and Tom Butler.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church prior to the service.
