He was preceded in death by his father, James A. Wilburn; mother, Peggy Wilburn; brother, James Dean Wilburn; and brother-in-law, Donnie Friday.

Survivors include his wife, Renee Howell Wilburn of Tuscaloosa; daughter, Brittany Richardson (Russ) of Tuscaloosa; son, Chais Billings (Amanda) of Tuscaloosa; sisters, Rita Conley Hull of Illinois, Shirley Friday of Gulf Shores and Tammy Dyess (JB) of Destin; brother, Gerald Wilburn (Sherry) of Cottondale; grandchildren, Keira Billings, Dean Richardson, Noah Billings of Tuscaloosa; in-laws, Bernice Brown, Charlotte Worthy, Larry Howell (Gayle), Camille Howell, and Amy Sullivan; niece; nephews; family; friends; and dogs, Scooby and Prissy.

Born in Whittier, Cali. and raised in Alabama, after a long battle with cancer, Mark S. Wilburn passed at home with peace and grace, surrounded by his family.

Mark was well-known for his gift of gab, zest for life, and the ability to fix any and everything. He enjoyed good food, good conversation, and spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his love of fishing, hunting, politics, and weather; he was often referred to as our personal "James Spann."
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He instilled the importance of family because family was his number one priority. He was a proud father of two and grandfather of three, who he loved dearly. Mark never met a stranger and was a friend and confidant to everyone he met. He could always be relied upon for help at any given moment.
He will be sorely missed by all of his friends and family as he is reunited with his dad, mom, brother, and brother-in-law in Heaven. After several months without his voice, he finally has his voice again and we know there is some talking going on now. Heaven just got a lot louder!

Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Friday, Will Wilburn, Alicia Wilburn, Nick Norris, Tanner Sullivan, Josh Brown, Mark White, Jermaine Long, Twanza Edwards, employees of DCH Cancer Treatment Center, Hospice of West Alabama, co-workers at Colonial Haven Health and Rehab, and Dan and Shelly Rannow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
