Oneal loved to tell stories about his many adventures growing up in the city of Northport near the old cotton gin. He enjoyed many lasting friendships with classmates from Tuscaloosa County High School, Class of 1960. His love of people and eagerness to be helpful made him a valuable employee at the Northport Western Auto Store, and later at the BF Goodrich Co. Tire Store in Tuscaloosa, which later became Tire Centers, Inc. His success as a commercial salesman for TCI was due to his good-natured personality and eagerness to help his customers. His years of playing tennis at Tuscaloosa Country Club were some of the best years of his life. He later became an avid cyclist and recruited others into his favorite sport.
