Ressie Jean McCann Goodman, 60, a resident of Meigs County, passed away Friday, February 20, 2015, in a Chattanooga hospital. She was of the Pentecostal faith.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lorene McCann, one brother, Joseph Verlin McCann, and one grandchild, Gabrielle Phillips.
She is survived by her father, Bishop John Wesley McCann “Preacher Man” and his wife Hazel McCann “First Lady” of Benton; four children: George Ellis and wife Jennifer of Cleveland, Christy Phillips and husband Stephen of Riceville, Jamie Russell and husband J.T. of Ten Mile, and Justin Goodman and wife Rene of Cleveland; ten grandchildren; six sisters: Edith Blair and husband Kenneth, Joyce Pack and husband Gene, Julia Burger and husband Bobby, Hazel Hembree and husband Scott D., Wilma Allen, and adopted sister Phyllis Hooker and husband Larry, all of Benton; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, February 23, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Joyce Pack officiating. Interment will follow in Cumberland Shed Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends Sunday, February 22, 2015, from 3 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
