Memoriam

NORTHPORT| Virginia Greer Pitts, age 86, of Northport, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2015. Service of Celebration of Life and Resurrection will be 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 6, 2015 at Northport Baptist Church with Dr. Joe Whitt officiating. Burial will follow at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church.

Virginia ("Meme" to her grandchildren and great grandchildren) was preceded in death by her mother and father Roe and Lynda Greer of Sylacauga, AL, her sister Lynda Carpenter Schneppershoff of Santa Monica, CA.

She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years Albert Pitts, her sister Nancy Robinson of Mountain Brook, AL and three sons Jim (Debra) Pitts of Clanton, AL, Dan (Debby) Pitts of Lexington, SC and Roe Pitts of Atlanta, GA. She is also survived by four grandchildren Anna (Drew) Wright of Collinsville, AL, John Pitts of Clanton, AL, Rossie (Justin) Koon of Lexington, SC and Daniel Pitts of Atlanta, GA along with four great grandchildren Shelby and Abigale Wright, Caleb and Joshua Koon.

Born on December 10, 1928 in Sylacauga, AL, Virginia attended Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL and graduated from Auburn University. Virginia worked with the Welfare department in Birmingham, AL and as an upper elementary teacher in Fayette County and Tuscaloosa County.

After retirement Virginia enjoyed traveling with Albert, visiting with family, particularly grandchildren, various activities with friends in Northport and flower gardening. She was very active at Northport Baptist Church, the Cowbell Club, Trail Blazers and several other civic organizations.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Pitts, Drew Wright, Justin Koon, Glen Crow, Chuck Schmidt, and Bryant McGee.
