Funeral services for Louise Haley Bates, 91, of Charleston, Mississippi, formerly of Grenada, are at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada, Mississippi. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Visitation is Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Louise died Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the Tallahatchie General Extended Care Facility in Charleston.
She was born on February 1, 1924 and was the daughter of Percy Haley and Florence Nail Haley of Carroll County.
Louise was employed by Pennaco Hosiery Mill in the stamping department. She was also a homemaker. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and a member of the Faith Sunday School Class where she served as the treasurer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Borden Bates, Sr., and three sisters, Birteen DeLapp, Odell Koleman, and Irene Carroll.
Louise is survived by one daughter, Dianne Bates Biddy (Bobby) of Grenada; two sons, John B. Bates, Jr. (Robin) of Williston, TN and Robert Colvin Bates of Eads, TN; five grandchildren, Kim Biddy Graves (J.R.), Haley Preston Biddy (Laura), Neely Bates Bryan (Cole), Julianna Bates, and Elise Bates; four great-grandchildren, Hayden Elizabeth Wooldridge, Reagan Presley Wooldridge, James Bowden Biddy, and Borden Hayward Bates; and a host of nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her special caregivers, Preshine Hunt and the entire Tallahatchie General staff.
Memorials may be made to the Emmanuel Baptist Church Youth and Children‘s Ministries.
