NORTHPORT | Joe Ellis Lockridge, age 80, of Northport, passed away September 6, 2015, at DCH Regional Medical Center, after a battle with lung cancer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, W.E. and Eva Swords Lockridge and brother, Bill Lockridge.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Beverly Calhoun Lockridge (In his words, Bev was the best thing that ever happened to me.\"); sons, Brian and Brad Lockridge; sister, Betty Rowell; brother, James Lockridge; and his extended family, the Calhouns, whom he loved dearly.
Pallbearers will be Wilford Calhoun, John Calhoun, Brian Hagler, Danny Gregg, Ray Glenn and Ralph Cabaniss.
Honorary pallbearers are members of Carroll's Creek Baptist Church, Bev's traveling and card playing buddies, his friends from Holt and friends of Brian and Brad that he carried fishing when they were young.
Joe loved to fish especially with his sons. Being a native of Holt, he loved meeting and talking with friends about the \"good ole days\" growing up in Holt.
We loved him so much and will miss him, but we have so many precious memories to help us.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at Piney Woods Cemetery on Highway 69 North.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Carroll's Creek Baptist Church.
