Memoriam

Louise Cannon Mims, age 86, of Northport, died Monday, April 27, 2015, at Hospice of West Alabama. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2015, at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North with Rev. Jerry Montgomery and Rev. Rick Taylor officiating and Magnolia Funeral Home North directing. Burial will follow in the cemetery of Sulphur Springs Freewill Baptist Church. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Magnolia Chapel North.
Born August 25, 1928, in Tuscaloosa County, she was the daughter of the late Roy Cannon and the late Vera Nell Cabaniss. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Rufus Mims; granddaughter, Brittany Samantha Mims; sister, Orlean Bonner; and brother, Ray Cannon.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Mims (Rebecca) and Larry Mims (Anne), both of Northport; three grandsons, Brett Mims of Memphis, Tennessee, Blake Mms of Atlanta, Georgia, and Hunter Mims of Northport; two granddaughters, Allison Mims and Heather Mims, both of Northport; two great-grandchildren, Brittany Mims and Gates Mims, both of Memphis; one sister, Ovell Kelley of Northport; and one sister-in-law, Ruth Cannon of Northport. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Brett Mims, Blake Mims, and Hunter Mims; nephews, Cecil Bonner, Daniel Kelley, and David Cannon; and friends, Elden Willingham and Jimmy Garner. Friends of the Northside and Samantha communities will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the care provided by the nurses and staff of Park Manor Nursing Home-Station 1 and Hospice of West Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of West Alabama, 3851 Loop Road, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35404; Sulphur Springs Freewill Baptist Church Building Fund, 21137 Old Jasper Road, Northport, Alabama 35475; or to a charity of one's choice .
