Memoriam

Funeral services for Opal Laverne Byrd Ezell, affectionately known as “Grandma” 96, of Grenada, are at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at the National Funeral Home Chapel . Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Carroll County.

Visitation is Tuesday, December 23, 2014 from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at National Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ezell died Sunday, December 21, 2014 at the Grenada Living Center.

She was born on June 25, 1918 and was the daughter of the late Christopher Columbus Byrd and Edna Cleo Barnes Byrd of Alcorn County .

Mrs. Ezell was a homemaker. She was the oldest member of Calvary Baptist Church in Carroll County.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Dorothy Olene Little (Billy) of Duck Hill, MS, Sue Ezell Jennings (Ned) of Scobey, MS and Brenda Rose Ezell of Grenada, MS; 3 sisters, Lola Gurley of Corinth, MS, Wilma Tartt and Ann Nash both of Winona, MS; 2 brothers, Donald Byrd of Memphis, TN and Harold Byrd of Hurley, MS; 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Ezell was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 61 years, Joe William Ezell and 1 son, Joseph Lynn Ezell.

Bro. Billy Little and Bro. Bud Vance will be officiating the service with Dennis Little, Trent Little, Chris Jennings, Patrick Taylor, Blake Pickle and Jeff Pickle serving as pallbearers.

National Funeral Home is in charge.
