Funeral services for William Arthur “Bill” Simpson, 87, of Coffeeville, are at 1 p.m. , Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Yalobusha County . Burial will follow in Clear Springs Cemetery in Yalobusha County.
Visitation is Saturday from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church.
Mr. Simpson died Thursday, January 22, 2015 at UMMC-Grenada.
He was born on November 2, 1927 and was the son of the late Edward Lester Simpson and Mary Frances Spurgeon Simpson of Yalobusha County.
Bill was employed by Grenada County as an equipment operator until his retirement. He was a member and deacon of Pine Grove Baptist Church. Bill was also a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. He was also a Mason.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Mary Simpson; two sisters, Ollie Waller and Lois Jones; and three brothers, Lester Simpson, Jr. James Simpson, and John Hugh Simpson.
Bill is survived by his wife, Margaret Lester Simpson of Coffeeville; one daughter, Wanda Lee of Coffeeville; three sons, William Lynn Simpson of Hattiesburg, David Simpson of Coffeeville and Jeff Simpson of Big Creek; two brothers, Hardy Simpson of Louisiana and Joe Simpson of Hattiesburg; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
