Funeral services for Joyce Marie Liming Adams, 96, of Lenexa, Kansas, are at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Grenada, Mississippi. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Grenada.
Visitation is Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church.
Joyce Marie Liming Adams was born December 5, 1917 in Ashland, Mississippi to Reverend William R. Liming and Ida Florence Clemmer Liming. She passed from this life on November 29, 2014 in Lenexa, Kansas.
Joyce spent her youth in north Mississippi graduating from Tishomingo High School and Blue Mountain College in 1934. Mrs. Adams spent 30 plus years as a math teacher in Mississippi, Virginia, Arkansas and Louisiana. She was active in various committees of the Methodist Church throughout her life.
She married John Helms Adams January 2, 1947 in Ashland, Mississippi. They spent their married years in Greenwood and Grenada, Mississippi; North Little Rock, Arkansas; New Orleans, Louisiana and Overland Park, Virginia.
Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John H. Adams; son, John H. Adams, Jr.; sisters, Dorris Smith, Mozelle Gary, and Flora Mae Jordan; and
brothers, Thurman Liming and Morris Liming.
Survivors include her son, Thomas L. Adams and wife Tonya; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Adams; grandsons, Scott Adams, Thomas Nichols and Matthew Nichols; granddaughter, Morgan Adams; great-grandsons, Danny Bruggeman, Ayden Nichols, Carson Nichols, and Jonathan Anderson; and great-granddaughters, Stephanie Bruggeman and Kelli Adams.
