Memorial services for Charlene Magee Leverette, 70, of Grenada, are at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 18, 2014 at the National Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Leverette died December 15, 2014 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS.
She was born in Oxford, MS on February 16, 1944 and was the daughter of the late James Rupert Magee and Marina Hayward Magee of Oakland, MS.
Mrs. Leverette retired as a high school English teacher after 47 years. She was a Methodist. She loved to cook and was very good at it. She loved her students and was an inspiration to all who came into contact with her. She lived by the motto “Carpe Diem” Her prized possessions were her beautiful grandchildren. She was known by many names, but her favorite nickname was “Rah-Rah” given to her by her grandson Taylor.
She is survived by 1 daughter, Rina Lee Downs (George); 1 son Bobby Chamberlain Leverette, Jr. (Jill) all of Grenada; 2 sisters, Barbara S Magee of St. Louis, MO, and Sylvia Grant (Will) of Oakland, MS; 2 grandchildren, Taylor Magee Leverette and Campbell Elaine Leverette.
Mrs. Leverette was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Chamberlain Leverette, Sr., her parents and 1 sister, Martha M. Toole.
