Memoriam

NORTHPORT | Margaret Ann Jones McCarty, age 78, of Northport, passed away peacefully March 25, 2015, at Hospice of West Alabama. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at Jennings Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Judy Shepherd officiating and Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be Monday, March 30, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her parents William Fletcher and Ruth Waldrop Jones; brother, Bill Jones; nieces, Alicia Mitchell, and Terri Thrasher, nephew Teddy Jones; and former husband, Richard F. McCarty.

Survivors include daughters Kristen McCarty Johnson (Jeff) of Northport and Alison McCarty Wilson (Rob) of Atlantic Beach, Fla.; brother, Ted Jones (Marlene) of Northport; and grandchildren, R. Fletcher Johnson, Dianna M. Johnson, Olivia A. Johnson of Northport, and Ann C. Wilson and Katherine F. Wilson of Atlantic Beach, Fla.

Margaret Ann was born April 25th, 1936, to William Fletcher and Ruth Waldrop Jones of Northport. After graduating with a degree in Nursing, Margaret Ann then began working as a psychiatric nurse, a field that she was passionate about and that she excelled in. After returning to Alabama in 1978, she then began employment at the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center, where she continued working in psychiatry and later retired in 2001 after practicing as a registered nurse for 43 years.

Pallbearers will be Jerril Jones, Scott Jones, Danny Hamner, Jeffrey D. Johnson, Fletcher Johnson, Dianna Johnson, and Olivia Johnson.

Honorary Pallbearers are Karen Cork Ball, Jo Frances "Tweety'' Strickland, Nina Jones, Doris Holman, and Scott Collins.
