Memoriam

Ruth Mann Miller, 91, a former resident of Bristol, VA, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2015, at home in Cleveland, TN. She was an active member of the Community Church at Bristol. She graduated from Georgia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in 1945. She was an avid golfer and four-time Champion at Bristol Country Club. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and a wonderful cook.

Born in LaGrange, Georgia, Mrs. Miller was the daughter of the late Joseph Brown Mann and Estelle Parker Mann and was also preceded in death by her siblings, Joseph Mann, Sara Callaway, and William Mann.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Dr. James Miller, a longtime optometrist in Bristol, VA, now residing in Cleveland; three children: James David Miller, Jr. and his wife, Esther of Charleston, WV, Diane Miller Taylor and her husband, Dr. Robert Creston Taylor of McDonald, TN, and Malcolm Lee Miller and his wife, Pam of Aurora, Illinois; four grandchildren: Dr. Alan Creston Taylor and his wife, Dr. Melanie Taylor of New Loudon, New Hampshire, James Brian Taylor and his wife, Paige of Signal Mountain, TN, Daniel Lee Miller of Chicago, Illinois, and Chloe Addison Cochran of Charleston, WV; four great grandchildren: Samuel James Taylor, Noah Charles Taylor, Ellie Ruth Taylor all of Signal Mountain, TN, and Abel Creston Taylor of New Loudon, New Hampshire; several nieces and nephews also survive.

A memorial service will be held for Garden Plaza residents and a private interment will follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery on June 8, 2015.
