Memoriam

Funeral services for Ruby J. Briscoe, 89, of Clarksdale, formerly of Grenada, are at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the National Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Wayside Cemetery at Scobey.


Ruby died January 14, 2015 at Greenbough Nursing Home in Clarksdale, Mississippi.

She was born on November 14, 1925 and was the daughter of Dan Webster Jarvis and Wren Potter Jarvis of Roston, Arkansas.

Ruby was employed by Pennaco Hosiery Mill in the Folding Department. She was a member of Hardy Baptist Church.

Mrs. Briscoe was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kelcy Briscoe, Sr.; one daughter, Beverly Briscoe; and two brothers, Garland Jarvis and Dan Jarvis.

Ruby is survived by one daughter, Betty McDaniel of Marks, Mississippi; one son, Kelcy Briscoe, Jr. of Grenada; four grandchildren, Gregory Lynn McDaniel, Jr. and Joseph McDaniel, both of Marks, and Angie James and Kelly Stovall, both of Clinton, Kentucky; and six great-grandchildren.
