Memoriam

Funeral services for Elise Grimes, 87, of Grenada, are at 3 p.m., Sunday, November 30, 2014 at the National Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Red Hill Cemetery near Duck Hill.

Visitation is Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at National Funeral Home.

Mrs. Grimes died Thursday, November 27, 2014 at Grace Health and Rehab in Grenada.

She was born on March 21, 1927 and was the daughter of the late Bolivar “Bob“ Woods and Ollie Mae Self Woods of Crowder, Mississippi.

Mrs. Grimes loved her family and her Lord. She was a dedicated member of Unity Baptist Church since July 1969. She had a special love for children, not only her own four daughters, but her nine younger siblings, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and all the children she babysat in her home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest Eugene Grimes; one daughter, Carolyn Grimes Grantham; two sisters, Lucille Woods Tutor and Pearline Woods Flint; five brothers, Raymond Woods, Tandy Woods, Paul Woods, Marvin Woods and Wayne Woods and two stillborn baby boys.

Mrs. Grimes is survived by three daughters, Azelie Grimes Jones (Johnnie Paul) of Grenada, Vicki Rose (Ralph) of Angier, North Carolina, and Jewell Allday (Alex) of Spring Hill, Mississippi; eight grandchildren, Candice Jones, Daryl Grantham (Lynn), Curtis Jones (Patricia) Jeremy Grantham, Derek Rose, Dustin Rose (Amy) Kurt Allday (Tiffany) and Ashley Rose Sullivan (Andrew); nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter
