Tony Allen Marthaler, 53, a resident of Athens, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at the family residence. He loved fishing, hunting, horses, cats and dogs.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Percy Blentlinger and Bertha Blentlinger; his paternal grandparents, Dan and June Marthaler; aunt, Gladys Jean Miller.
He is survived by his wife, Nita Dewey of Athens; father, James Ray Marthaler, Sr. of Quincy, IL; mother, Carol Blentlinger Marthaler of Charleston, TN; one sister, Jennifer Roberts of Quincy, IL; five brothers: Michael D. Marthaler and wife, Elaine of Colorado Springs, CO, John Marthaler and wife, Angela of Charleston, TN, James Marthaler, Jr. of Charleston, TN, Michael Roberts and wife, Bree of Quincy, IL, and Jordan Marthaler of Seattle, Washington.
A gathering of friends will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at the VFW Post 2598 from 4-7 p.m.
Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
